Digital Chocolate's MLSN Sports Picks Takes a 2006 Wireless Innovation Contest Award

MLSN Sports Picks, a provider of mobile Social Application series, has won the Wireless Innovation Contest 2006 (WIC'06) Award for 'Entertainment.' The winners were announced at CTIA Wireless in Las Vegas.
WIC'06 recognizes deployed wireless applications and services that demonstrate innovation and contribute to the wireless community. Hosted by the Wireless Innovation Network of British Columbia, Wireless Excellence Awards were given out in six categories. MLSN Sports Picks was voted the best Home & Entertainment application.

'We are pleased with the recognition for MLSN Sports Picks and excited by its early success,' said Trip Hawkins, founder and CEO of Digital Chocolate, a developer of games and applications for mobile phones. 'MLSN Sports Picks enables players to come together around always-fresh content, leveraging the inherent social connectivity offered by mobile phones. The result is a growing community of mobile, social gamers.'

MLSN Sports Picks is based on a client-server architecture, which allows Digital Chocolate to create a game-play model based on networked communities of interacting players with regularly refreshed content. Members predict outcomes to upcoming sports events to earn points and gain recognition. Members can compete and interact in public leagues sponsored by Digital Chocolate, or they can create their own private leagues and invite friends to join them for more serious competition. To further fuel friendly rivalries, the company said that players can use the 'Trash Talk' feature to communicate with each other through in-product text messaging.
